Join the Band

On occasion, we join with the Keene American Legion Band to form
the Twin State American Legion Band. Above is a photo of the
2005 Loyalty Day Parade in Rutland, VT.
The Brattleboro American Legion Band is always looking for new members.
We encourage anyone who plays a standard band instrument to play
with us.
Requirements
- Come to as many rehearsals as you can. Our rehearsals
are every Wednesday night, 7 PM to 9:30 PM, at Legion Post
#5 in Brattleboro, VT. We do not rehearse the 3rd Wednesday
of most months.
- We play a wide variety of music, including marches, patriotic tunes,
blues, jazz, and classical. Most music is at the high school
level. You should be prepared to practice the music at home
as needed.
- Bring your instrument. We provide instruments only for percussionists
and some of the larger instruments (such as a sousaphone).
- We perform in approximately 10 parades per year and three formal concerts,
as well as a few outdoor concerts in the summer months. See
our current schedule. These performances pay our bills, including
uniforms, travel expenses, and our trip to the National Legion
Convention where we compete against other bands. You're expected
to participate in as many of these performances as you can.
- Bring a positive attitude and expect to have plenty of fun and make
new friends!
What We Don't Require
- You do not need to be a Legion member to play with the band, nor do
you need to be a veteran.
- You can play with us at any age. Our youngest member is 12. We
have several octogenarians in the band, and of course, we
have all ages in between!
- There is no fee to join the band. We will provide a uniform.
